Date:2025-12-03 Author:

Bridging the wisdom of the East and the innovative spirit of the West, The School of International Education of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics (ZUFE) recently hosted a guest lecture by Fadia Nordtveit, an Adjunct Professor from NYU's Leonard N. Stern School of Business. The event was part of the college's ongoing initiative to broaden students' academic horizons and enhance their learning experience by introducing global perspectives.

The lecture focused on the interconnected themes of "AI, Ethics, and Organizational Responsibilities.

During the session, Professor Nordtveit explored the relationship between artificial intelligence and corporate governance. She introduced the concept of "electronic imperialism," explaining how AI systems can carry the cultural biases of their creators. She discussed the role of DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) as a necessary framework for creating more equitable technology and noted that AI still requires careful development for critical applications.

The lecture provided students with new ways to think about technology's role in society. It encouraged a more open-minded approach, moving beyond technical specs to consider the broader human impact of innovation. Many students found the talk sparked a greater curiosity about the fast-paced world of tech development. The event successfully supported ZUFE's goal of fostering not just technical skills, but also a more aware and inquisitive mindset among its student body, preparing them to contribute thoughtfully to the global technology landscape.
