Hangzhou is located along the southeast coast of China. It is the capital of Zhejiang Province, the center of politics, economy, science, education, and culture of the province. Hangzhou is best known for its profound history and picturesque natural scenery. It’s renowned as “Paradise on Earth”, “Home of Silk” and “Tea Capital”.

As one of the Seven Chinese Ancient Capitals, Hangzhou is also an inviting city of scenic tourism. The city's West Lake, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, is one of the top ten scenic areas in China and attracts millions of tourists each year. Marco Polo, an Italian traveler in the 13th century, lauded Hangzhou as “the most magnificent and noble city in the world”. Hangzhou is one of the birthplaces of Wuyue culture with profound historical and cultural accumulation. Among them, the main representative unique cultures are Liangzhu culture, silk culture, tea culture, and many legends handed down to become the representatives of Hangzhou culture.

In September 2015, Hangzhou was awarded to host the 2022 Asian Games. It will be the third Chinese city to play host to the Asian Games after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010. Hangzhou, an emerging technology hub and home to the e-commerce giant Alibaba, also hosted the eleventh G20 summit in 2016. Hangzhou's economy has developed rapidly since its opening up in 1992, becoming a diversified industrial city with light industry, agriculture and textiles, as well as an important manufacturing base, logistics and digital economy center along China's coast. In 2022, Hangzhou's GDP reached 1,875.3 billion yuan.

Hangzhou is only less than one hour away from Shanghai by high-speed train. There are also direct flights from Hangzhou to Singapore, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Germany and so on.
